STAFF UNDERGOES CHANGES

September 1, 2003

Over the past two months, WNY United has said farewell to a pair of prevention specialists that worked in the School Community Action Team (SCAT) Program and another staff member who worked in the State Incentive for Community Action (SICA).  Catherine Flanagan joined the staff of WNY United in the spring of 1999 as a development specialist for the WNY United Foundation but by the fall of 2000 had moved into a prevention specialist role in suburban school districts including Lake Shore, Iroquois, Springville, Eden, and North Collins.  Ms. Flanagan left WNY United to pursue a PhD at the University of Buffalo full time.  Terrell Monroe was hired in the spring of 2001 and facilitated science-based curriculum packages as a prevention specialist in several Buffalo Public Schools.  Mr. Monroe left WNY United to pursue a new position with YO! Buffalo.  Martha Oliveras came to SICA in the summer of 2001 as the coordinator of "Across Ages," a mentoring program that recently ceased upon expiration of its grant.  WNY United wishes all three the best of luck in their future endeavors.

To fill the openings created by these departures, WNY United has hired two new prevention specialists.  Molly Allman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University and a Masters Degree along with teacher certification in secondary education from D'Youville College.  Most recently, Molly worked as an extended assignment substitute teacher at Buffalo Traditional.  Her first assignment will be to work in suburban SCAT locations.  Dennis Wilson earned his Bachelors degree in Communications and Masters degree in education at Canisius College.  Dennis was also working as a substitute teacher in Buffalo Public Schools and has worked for WNY United before as a summer staff member in the Leaders In Training (LIT) Program.  He will be assigned to Buffalo Public SCAT locations.  Both associates will begin working for WNY United in mid-October.  Contact Molly at 821-7722, ext. 22 or mallman@wnyunited.org.  Dennis can be reached at dwilson@wnyunited.org or ext. 27.  WNY United is pleased to add them both to our staff.
