WNY United Leadership Programs
Leaders in Training (LIT) is a leadership and life
skill development program for active WNY United SCAT partner buildings. Sixth
grade students are recruited each spring by WNY United prevention specialists
based upon recommendations made by administrators, teachers, and counselors in
each school. Over the course of seventh and eighth grade, the selected
students participate in conferences, a summer program, retreats, and many school
based activities. They also receive numerous life skill building
experiences, complete community service learning projects, and attend
educational field trips. By the end of eighth grade, the LIT students are
able to positively impact their school and community environments, as well as
the attitudes and beliefs of their peers and younger children. For more information regarding the Leaders in Training program
