124 golfers from all over the community competed in scramble format on a beautiful summer day. Golfers enjoyed a delicious lunch cooked by Orchard Park Country Club chefs before play started and enjoyed an amazing dinner and dessert in the clubhouse following their round of golf.
According to the golfers, it was the best tournament they had been to all summer! The event was a successful tournament raising more than $18,000 in net revenue for the WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse Foundation. The golfers donated over $6,000 of the revenue, in raffles, contests on the course, 50/50, and silent auctions which included Buffalo sports paraphernalia & tickets, many special Buffalo themed items and attraction tickets and other items donated by various local businesses. All proceeds from the tournament go towards supporting the agency’s programming.
First place was once again determined by “Match of Cards” between Alliance Advisory Group and Erin Burch Nutrition teams. Alliance Advisory Group comprised of Jon Sheldon, Jack Gray, Bob Fashano and Mark Majewski with a score of 57 beat out last years winners from Erin Burch Nutrition. The “Most Honest” team for a second year in a row was the team comprised of Carolos Cacador, Kathy Zika, Joan Stockman and Scott Perry. The longest drive was won by Jeff Thiele and the Closest to the Pin went to Vinny Lazzara at 4’9” inches.
Returning for the second year was the air cannon golf ball launcher brought to us by Epic Auction Events! Each golfer could shoot the launcher for a chance at the closest to pin on hole #11 and Rod Christie won at 15’9”.
Thank you to Consumer’s Beverages for donating beverages to keep our golfers cool on the course!
