Last Thursday, December 5th, at the Evans Town Hall, fifth graders from Highland Elementary participated in decorating the town’s Drive Safe Tree with ornaments made by the students in the district. With December being National Impaired Driving Prevention month, each ornament represents a child’s wish that the adults in their life refrain from driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol this holiday season. After each student placed an ornament on the tree, Mr. Creech lead the students in singing some holiday songs to spread some Christmas cheer!
Special thanks goes to Mrs. Colleen Politowski, principal at Highland, and Mrs. Beth Farrell, school counselor at Highland, for their help in coordinating the event. Thank you to the 5th grade teachers at Highland for making time in their schedule for the event. (Jody Schmidle, Gina Hackbarth and Katherine Caboot). Thank you to town supervisor Mary Hosler for hosting us.
Here are just a few of the pictures from the event
