Over 39 businesses supported the tournament with 132 golfers from all over the community competing in a scramble format on quite possibly the best day of the summer. Golfers were treated to a donated lunch from George’s Hot Dog Stand and Wise Foods while on the course and enjoyed a steak dinner in the clubhouse following the round of golf.
The event was one of the most successful tournaments in history raising more than $24,000 in net revenue for the WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse Foundation. Attendees donated over $5,400 of the revenue for special games, deals, raffles and silent auctions which included Buffalo Bills and Sabres paraphernalia, tickets and items donated by various local businesses. All proceeds from the tournament go toward supporting agency programming.
The first place winning team was comprised of Rich Products Corporation Associates Matt Bartels, Margaret Pfeiffer, Gary Klosko and Marty Hurley. This team will hold the coveted Drive Against Drugs Trophy for one year.
The tournament could not be held without the generosity and support of the sponsors or the hard work of the golf committee. Thank you to co-chairs John Lunn & Bob Gauchat and the rest of the committee; Urmas Lupkin, Steve Barber, Alvino Battistoni, Linda Flowers, Mike Klima, Jim Mize, Jay Rich, Dan Sarzynski, and Kristie Schiefer.
A special thank you goes out to gold sponsors The Buffalo Sabres and Greene & Associates for their support of the tournament and the work of WNY United.
