Career Exploration, a topic they all wanted to learn more about, was a service project between WNY United Leaders in Training and Rich Products Associates. Every month, Jack Schuyler and Mark Notaro from Rich Products came to LIT meetings to talk about the students’ interests and how those interests connect to different careers. Each student chose a career, and with Mark’s help, they broke down what was necessary to pursue that field.
Upon arriving at Rich Products Corporation the kids toured the facility and talked with different associates including Stephen Rich the Innovation Center Chef about the company and career options. They enjoyed a delicious lunch and learned more about the company from Ann Boyd who is the Director of Component Dessert Marketing.
They ended the day with cake decorating tips from Megan Lodes who is the R&D Research Technician II. This was a fun, hands on way to learn about another career they might be interested in. The students were then all given their own cupcakes to decorate and take home.
A special thank you goes out to the Rich Products Associates who made the field trip happen, Prevention Specialist Samantha Zappala, and the staff at Buffalo Public Schools #69 and #72. It was a day the kids will never forget!
